The school is at odds over Phillip “PJ” Allen and the coat he wore to the classroom. The school has suspended him three days for wearing the coat.

Only 25% Of Community College Students….

in the state of California graduate with a college degree or move onto a four year college in six years says research done by Cal State Sacramento University. The report does define a transfer to a four year college as completion, but they also say that many of those transfer students do not wind up with a college degree at all. One credit hour at a community college in California is only 20 bucks.

The Southern Regional Educational Board Says….

that the entire college and not just the school of education is responsible for the education of a teacher. The report says that six states out of the sixteen states in the SREB hold colleges responsible for producing quality graduates.

The report lists graduate performance criteria and the steps in accountability process for poor colleges for all the states.

After looking at the main table this stuff helps insure some of the problems with producing a quality teacher, this stuff does not address curriculum problems loads of colleges have though.

WestEd Report on NYC High Schools….

is out. They looked at 14 new schools that have been created in the area in the year 2002 and have graduated students in the 2006 school year. The report says that the new schools have a graduation rate of 79%. 53% of those graduates have been accepted by at least one 4-year college.

The lowest graduation rate was 58% while one school had a 96% graduation rate.

The racial mix up of incoming 9th graders into the school district is mainly Black and Hispanic by a wide margin.

The attendance rate at the new schools was 89% for the most recent data, promotion rates for ninth graders are above 90%.

With data on only 12 schools, eleven of them had AP classes.
