WestEd Report on NYC High Schools….

is out. They looked at 14 new schools that have been created in the area in the year 2002 and have graduated students in the 2006 school year. The report says that the new schools have a graduation rate of 79%. 53% of those graduates have been accepted by at least one 4-year college.

The lowest graduation rate was 58% while one school had a 96% graduation rate.

The racial mix up of incoming 9th graders into the school district is mainly Black and Hispanic by a wide margin.

The attendance rate at the new schools was 89% for the most recent data, promotion rates for ninth graders are above 90%.

With data on only 12 schools, eleven of them had AP classes.
