Moving High-Poverty Kids To Better Areas….

does not help kids in the long run when it comes to academics says a new study out published at the Education Next Journal. The report does say it did wonders helping kids move to lower-poverty areas though. Some reasons why the performance was so bad is parents moving kids to worse and worse places over time and school choice problems.

The research was done off the Moving to Opportunity program which is used in the Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City areas. People in the program were given housing vouchers to get out of high-poverty areas.

The second report on this looks at how many people were in the program, how they got into the program, etc….
