that achievement gaps in students start even before school starts.

The report says only 68% of children live in a two parent household which is down from 77% in 1980. The report also looked at other countries and the same exact thing is occurring as well.

44% of women in all races have an out-of-wedlock birth before the age of thirty. Blacks have the highest percentage at 77%. Over half of all out-of-wedlock births occur to women who have a high school diploma, GED, or less education.

When it came to Language difference at age 4 the professional family an estimated 50 million words have been addressed to the child. The working-class family had around 30 million and the welfare family had around 15 million.

At the highest social economic level 62% of parents red to them each day versus 36% for the lowest level.

The report says the lower you are on the economic scale the lower end the day care is going to be.

This is one great report to read.

a report on Boston and the pilot high schools that are in the area. All the pilot schools looked at are college prep schools with small population sizes.

They found the four-year graduation rate at pilot schools to be 75.7% versus 52.2% at Boston Public Schools. The attendance rate at the pilot schools is 94.4% versus 89.1% at the Boston Public Schools. The dropout rate at the pilot schools was 3% versus 6.5% at the Boston Public Schools. MCAS passing rates are an easy 10% more in math and ela for the pilot schools.

They did find from the years of 2001-2004 a good sized jump in the amount of students in a pilot school being retained for a year.

Pilot schools mainly serve the black and Latino populations says the report.

After looking at all the data in the report these schools look great and certainly more are going to be needed in the area.
