the NCLB bill is far from perfect.  He wants changes in the way students are measured.

Grant Money For Programs….

in the state of Connecticut that are mandated by the NCLB bill have seen sharp declines eventhough no changes have been made to be the bill. The state has a seen a drop in funding by 10%.

Money that has been cut would be going to money for after school programs and low-income districts.

on the city shunning test scores for grade promotion.  It is a nice report on social promotion and weather a city should it or not.

43 States Get An F Rating….

when it comes to college affordability says the latest National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education report called “Measuring Up 2006 The National Report Card On Higher Education”.

Two years ago only 36 states got an F rating.

The New York Post article on this report says that the SUNY Chancellor is not happy about this report.  The Chancellor says the report badly miscaculates the NYS TAP numbers.

I would just like to say at the rate they are going all states are going to get an F rating.  I would like to see in the 2008 report seperate data for in-state students when it comes to college affordability and for out-of-state students when it comes to college affordability.

have a report up on high schools that are putting physics first.  They say that only 3% of public schools nationwide put physics first.  The article also says that we do not have enough qualified teachers to teach physics first and the schools that have made it a success are a core group of teachers that have launched it in their school district.

The program is in the second year at the middle school and high school level.  Students that are a part of this program are not the smartest kids or the ones that are most likely to drop out though.  They will get tutors to help them out with his or her studies and the students will have to take Advance placement classes.
