price survery and they found that costs from tuition and books are one the rise.  Private college tuition up 5.7% and public college tuition is up 6.3%.

that most states meet some of the requirements in plans they have submitted in order to meet the “Highly Qualified Teacher” part of the NCLB plan. Four states (Hawaii, Missouri, Utah and Washington) still meet no requirements and have to go through monthly monitoring.

up on science books and what could happen if we move to 12 planets. The article states that it could be up to seven years before some schools change 2006 textbooks so that info on all twelve planets are included.

I think we are going to have to have the textbook manufactures produce a free update to give to teachers so any new information is not missed.

In the state of Maryland are failing to meet new standards.  241 schools this year, up from 196 last year are bad.

no new states really want to get into high school exit exams for students.  They say 22 states now have an exam in place and that three more will have phased one in by 2012.

The long report is a good read with full details on how the states that do have an exit exam ket a student graduate with a high school diploma.
