43 States Get An F Rating….

September 07, 2006 By: richard.ginn Category: College, Uncategorized

when it comes to college affordability says the latest National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education report called “Measuring Up 2006 The National Report Card On Higher Education”.

Two years ago only 36 states got an F rating.

The New York Post article on this report says that the SUNY Chancellor is not happy about this report.  The Chancellor says the report badly miscaculates the NYS TAP numbers.

I would just like to say at the rate they are going all states are going to get an F rating.  I would like to see in the 2008 report seperate data for in-state students when it comes to college affordability and for out-of-state students when it comes to college affordability.

The first segment on the show was on the Patterson family. Both the father and the mother worked and made a combined 135,000 in salary. They showed them looking at two different colleges. One of them in Massachusetts and one of them in New York where they would pay an in state tuition rate. The school in New York is over 13 grand less per year in tuition.

The father took a second job on the weekends just to help pay for the daughters education.

If they say the SAT is a poor inicator of success for a college student why not drop the SAT scores for all students????
