The Center for New York City Affairs Reports…
on high absentee rates for New York City elementary schools. For this report a chronically absence student has missed at least 10% of the school year.
They found 12 school districts in the local area had at least 25% of elementary students that are chronically absence. Schools in the Central Brooklyn and South Bronx area where the worse offenders. They throw out a lot of data on the offending schools.
What is also not great news in the report is that 75 Elementary schools in the area got a rating of an A or B from the city, but had at least 30% of students at the school missing at least 20 days.
The report does get into a few students and why they are late for school which is great.
