on a proposal by the state to standardize how the GPA is calculated by schools in the state.

In the proposal they want to dump career and technical education classes from the GPA calculation. The career and technical education classes due still count towards high school graduation requirements. I say that blows. All classes you take must count towards the final GPA.

The proposal also calls for an elimination of extra credit for students who take Pre-Advanced Placement courses or Pre-International Baccalaureate courses in ninth and 10th grades. Backers of this change say that the classes have different rigor from school district to school district.

I will agree with them. To fix it all you have to do is to make sure a higher level class has the same rigor in every school district in the state.
