They found that 63% of fourth graders scored at or above proficiency levels in math on
their respective state exams in 2007, up from 49% in 2003. 55% of eighth graders did the same thing and that is up from 42% in 2003.
When it came to fourth grade reading scores 60% of them scored at or above proficiency levels on their respective state exams in 2007, up from 51% in 2003. 51% of eighth graders did the same thing and that is up from 43% in 2003.
The did also find that the racial gap shrinking for both exams.
