New Thomas B. Fordham Foundation Report….
is out looking at Catholic schools. They recommend that these schools are affordable for all. They also say that 1,300 of this type of school have closed since 1990.
They look at three cities Wichita, Memphis, and Denver who got help from dioceses.
Wichita had money come out of the pockets of church member salaries. The people behind this report really loved this idea.
Memphis went on a massive attempt to get money from people and businesses to have scholarship money.
Denver went on a marketing campaign.
They also looked at Milwaukee and Washington D.C. that got public support.
Milwaukee has the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program which gives money to students to go to the school of their choosing and the PAVE program just for Catholic schools.
They look at a voucher program used in Washington D.C. as well.
I found this report to be a nice read.
