EducatingArizona.org Out With New Report..

February 09, 2008 By: richard.ginn Category: Uncategorized

on the state of the educational system in Arizona. It is a completely data filled report.

The report says that most of the jobs needed in the years of 2007-2013 in the state need more than just a high school diploma. They also say that only 17 out of 100 9th graders in the state wind up finishing college on time. It also says that school population is growing at a much faster rate than the nation, but the only race that is dropping in school population is the white population.

The report looks at 10 different rankings which includes education standards, teacher standards, and test scores. Arizona ranked in the bottom ten states five times out of ten out of the ones they looked at.

They look at AIMS test scores which show major gaps between races. They also show they are behind the national average on taking an AP exam as well as being behind the national average when scoring 3+ points on an AP exam.

The people behind the report want to see stronger teacher preparation and I will agree with them. It is a state that does not need a subject area major in order to get certification.

This report was really nice to look at and to read.
