is looking at dumping the standardized Gateway tests for tougher end-of-course examinations as part of graduation requirements. If new rules pass seventh graders in 2009 will be the first students to take this exam.

Currently Gateway exam scores count for 15% of a final grade in a class an the end-of-course exam will count for as much as 25% of a final grade in a class.
