The report shows that more and more students are graduating each year with a nursing degree, but the amount of students in nursing programs over the past couple of years has remained flat. The report blames shortage of nursing teachers as to why nursing student population is flat.
The amount of students not getting into nursing college is around 50%.
Median age of nurse faculty is around 52 years old in Texas. Turnover rate for nursing teachers in 2006 was around 14%.
They look at salary and it shows a massive gap between a nursing teacher and other jobs. The teacher made 45 grand in salary while a nurse practitioner got around 78 grand in salary, but a nurse practitioner in specialty care almost made 100 grand in salary.
