Public Agenda Report On Science And Math….

is out. The report is on what parents and students in Kansas and Missouri feel about math and science teaching in the school system.

57% of parents say that we are far behind in teaching math and science. 65% of parents strongly agree that students with good math and science skills have good future prospects. 70% of parents feel they are doing a good preparing students for the future. Parents say that math is more important than science for getting into college.

65% of white students feel the science teacher knows a lot about the subject, while only 50% of blacks do. 68% of white students feels the science math knows a lot about the subject, while only 56% of blacks do. 63% of students say they need to know high level math skills. 72% of students say high level science should not be required of students.
