NCLB Lawsuit Filed In California….

August 22, 2007 By: richard.ginn Category: Uncategorized

and it is against the “highly qualified teacher” rules in the NCLB. 59,000 teachers are considered highly qualified without meeting the credentials. The Sacramento Bee article also states that in just the state of California they have more than 10,000 interns who practically do not have any teacher certification yet.

Various article links:

Sacramento Bee
, USA Today, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, and the LA Times.

My quick thoughts:

IMO the highly qualified teacher rules are a joke. If you do not have a teacher license you 100% must not be called highly qualified, but the federal government blew it big time. If you have a teacher license you need like 5 years in the classroom before you can even get that type of a status. Score one for people filing this lawsuit.
