Mitchell Institute Report….

July 19, 2007 By: richard.ginn Category: Uncategorized

is out on removing barriers so more students in Maine go to college.

The report showcases that more students in Maine have plans on going to college, but the report also shows that fewer students are actually going to college.

The report showcases that over the past few years that college enrollment including taking one year off before going to college is up, but they also show over the past few years a drop in the amount of students getting a college degree.

The report does talk about Early College programs for high school students in Maine which is a great thing. They do talk about college cost, but the section was too short.

I agree with recommendations they list. They would like to see students exposed to college at an earlier age which I like. They want more early college partnerships which I also like. They want to see more career exploration early. I 100% want this. They want to see a career exploration curriculum in the middle school grade levels which is one of the main pieces to my educational plan.
