is out with a brand new report just looking at new teachers in the state. The people behind the report looked at over 30 years worth of data.

They findings they have found are:

27% of teachers leave the teaching profession and never come back even as Chicago Public Schools and other urban school districts are hiring better and better teachers.

44% leave their initial school in 2 years and 67% leave there initial school in 5 years.

They found that data from the 1970’s was much higher than data from the 90’s in percentage of teachers leaving the profession.

They say that attrition rates in disadvantaged schools are going to go on the rise if working conditions are not changes.

3 out of 10 of the best new teachers leave the system while only 2 out 10 of the worst leave the system.
