“School Pride” TV Show Review…..
Take the ABC hit show “Extreme Makeover: Home edition” and then make it about schools and you get this brand new NBC reality TV Show. This show starts out in Compton California with an elementary school, but will go across the USA fixing up other schools. The show is even produced by Denise Cramsey who works on the ABC show.
With this show the topic of education will not be missed, it will get discussed. I think showing off the poorly kept schools is a good thing as well and it can bring attention to this problem.
This show as a whole acts a lot like the ABC one though. They showcase the poor school and some of the build. The students at the school got to go to Universal Studios.
The show was nicely done though and the finished product was really good looking. The new basketball court looked great, the science lab looked super, etc….
Here are a couple of complaints that I have on this show though. As much as we really need this show, we have to have a reality TV show come in to make over a school that the local, state, or federal government should have fixed in the first place. Schools should not get into this bad of a shape to begin with.
My second complaint is that even though we have this TV show it even looked like even NBC could not pay the whole cost of the remodel. This build had the reading room with help from people magazine, the science room had help from Microsoft. To me this just cheapens the build.
I do wonder this though. Three years from now will a school that got the “School Pride” makeover have a big change in academic performance. It could be a interesting study.
