has released a report on arts education in the California School system. They looked at over 1,100 schools and they found that 89% of them do not offer proper arts education. To meet California standards they have to offer arts in four arts disciplines—music, visual arts, theater, and dance. Only 60% of schools can say they offer one to three of those disciplines.

The reports shows that music class enrollment has dropped big time while the other three disciplines has flat lined over the past couple of years.

They say that California has access to a vast array of arts providers, but mainly leave it up to the teachers to do arts instruction.

The report states that most schools do not have dedicated space for arts instruction and funding is a problem for art supplies.
