at the consequences of dropping out of high school. The 16-24 age bracket is used for this report.
They say that only 31% of black high school dropouts are working. 53% of Hispanic dropouts are working.
They found that the lower the household income you have the more likely a dropout will not be working.
They say mean annual earnings for a dropout is around 8400 which is over 6000 less than the next highest level.
They say female dropouts were 6 times as likely to be a mom than a female that is either a college student of have a four year college degree.
They say nearly 1 in 10 young males were institutionalized on a given day versus 1 in 33 for a high school grad. 22% of these male dropouts were black. This is more than three times the rate for a Hispanic person.
The Highschool dropout has a lifetime net fiscal impact of -5,191 bucks. That is around 292 grand less than a high school graduate.
