per year if school districts cut some provisions in teacher contracts. The Education Sector looked at eight provisions such as seniority pay, retirement benefits, health care, class-size provisions, just to name a few.
They say that increasing salary based on years of experience is not good because a teacher is going to plateau on how well they can perform in a classroom. They say that having a masters degree does not mean that classroom performance is better. They also say that teachers get generous healthcare and retirement benefits.
The total cost which they admit is a conservative estimate is around 19% of school budgets nation wide.
