an NBER and H&R Block report that looks at the FAFSA form.

The experiment they used involved 156 H&R block location in Ohio and North Carolina. People that took part in the experiment were set into three groups.

In the 10,000 plus people that got direct help from H&R Block to help fill out the FAFSA form almost 70% of them sent in a finalized FAFSA forms to the government. At the H&R block it took around 10 minutes to complete the form. The other two groups did not get as much help as this group.

They also found a good increase in the amount of students that enrolled into college in the FAFSA treatment group through the experiment.
