Education Trust Reports On Funding Gaps….

with federal Title I aid money.   The states of Maryland and Arkansas have around the same amount of poor students but Maryland gets around 50% more per student in Title I funding.

The report says that 26 out of 49 states they looked at had school districts with the highest amount of poverty getting less money the school districts in that state with the lowest amount of poverty.  The gap is  over 1,000 dollars in some states.

The report also gets into salary differences between teachers in some school districts based on levels of poverty.  Big gaps are not going to help the situation at all.

A total change in how this funding is given to the states and local school districts are going to have to take place.  I agree with the recomendations they list.
