Every Child Every Promiss Turning Failure Into Action Report….
The American Promiss people have released this interesting report. The report lists five promisses:
1) Caring Adults
2) Safe place and constructive use of time
3) Healthy start and healthy development
4) Effective education for marketable skills and lifelong learning
5) Opportunities to make a difference through helping others
This report says that only 31% recieve enough of these promisses to be confident of success. They looked at 2 sets of age brackets for this report. The report also states that a person needs to recieve 4-5 of these promisses for success.
Students aged 6-11 and aged 12-17 who get 4-5 promisses will have more social competence, more frequent volunteering, more violence avoidance and get mostly A’s in class instead of students who get 0-1 promisses.
They say that high-income families that earn over 100 grand a year are twice as likely to get 4-5 of the promisses than families that earn less than 30 grand. If your parents are college graduates you are more likely to recieve 4-5 of the promisses.
I think this report is a must read that give us a different look at how to fix the educational system.
