The National Council On Teacher Quality….

March 11, 2009 By: richard.ginn Category: Uncategorized

is out with a new report just looking at Indiana colleges/Universities and reading instruction.

This is the first state in the USA to take up the NCTQ offer and 45 schools get looked at.

They say that most Indiana Schools are not teaching the science of reading. Around 5 schools got a 100% score. Around 12 schools scored 0%.

They say textbooks are inadequate along with a bunch of classes that have low expectations of the students as well.

I would like to applaud Indiana for being the first state to have the guts enough to put the colleges through this. I hope all the colleges in the state look this important report and improve the curriculum to really meet the needs of college students.
