study just looking at first grade classes. They found quality to be lacking.

The study found only 23% of the 880 first grade classes they looked at to be of high quality in both their instructional practices and social and emotional climate.

31% though did have a positive emotional climate, but a low level of academic quality.

28% of them were found to be mediocre and 17% of them to be low in quality.

They did also find that class size and years of experience for the teacher to have no effect on classroom quality.
