Massive Special Arizona Star Report Out…..

looking at social promotion going on for the Tucson-area middle-and high-school students. Included are a number of .pdf files, videos, graphics, and articles. It lasted over a few days.

In one of the many articles it says that one out of three students flunked classes, but 90% was able to move onto the next grade level.

Another article states that they found dozens of schools in which failure rates on state tests were greater than the rate of students who failed corresponding classes in English and math. They say this gap shows grade inflation.

New Study Out On Charter Schools…

in the New York City area is out. They found that at least 40% of these schools had either a longer school day, a longer school year, or even Saturday school. They found that these Charter School students did much better on math and reading exams over a 4 year period then if they stayed in a traditional school.
