the San Jose Mercury News reports on this bill that if passed would cut community college tuition by 25%.

The Sacramento Bee also has an article on this as well.

IMO with the 14.5 billion in debt they have I would not pass this idea.

A Wyandotte County Unified Government commissioner would like to see a 1/4 percent sales tax increase that would give 4 grand a year to college students living in the Kansas City area. The idea is modeled after the Kalamazoo Promise program.

colleges with rich endowments to pay more of the college tuition. This article showcases a graphic of colleges in Iowa.

The #1 college on the list in Grinnell College with a 1.5 Billion endowment. They have around 1,700 undergrad students who pay around 40 grand a year to go to the college. The 40 grand number includes the room. The article though says that Grinnell paid out 23 million in grants and scholarships in the 2005-2006 school year, but the endowment gain was around 10%.

If Grinnell can keep up the endowment gain like that they can easily afford to spend an extra 10-20 million a year on tuition.
