students will allow them to get free tuition at any SUNY or CUNY. Low-income students can even get a free room and board as well. To get the free tuition a student in the school district is going to have to meet regents English and math standards.

in South Carolina was conducted. The results say that 3/4 of all students in a single sex classroom said that bing in a single sex classroom increased their confidence, class participation, desire to succeed in school and ability to succeed.

Ohio Alliance of Public Charter Schools….

releases a report looking at the eight largest school districts in the state and finds that 48% of the the charter schools in those school districts they looked at exceeded state education standards for educational improvement from the 2005-06 school year to 2006-07. Only 39% of the public schools in the same school districts they looked at did the same thing.

has up a report looking at surging endowments, but disappointing amounts of lower income people going to high-ranking universities and colleges. The study looks at the 30 highest rated universities and 30 highest rated liberal arts colleges.

In looking at the data from 1983 and 2006 only two universities in 2006 wound up with a better percentage of low income students going to college than the best school in 1983. This means that a whole load of high-ranking colleges saw a percentage drop in low income students going to college. The same trend occurred for the most part when looking at the liberal-arts colleges as well.

Some parts of the survey:

40% said that a faculty supervisor’s assessment of a student’s internship in a real-world setting would be very useful. I like this idea. A bad assessment though could kill future employment opportunities and make you college education less worth it though.

13% said that college transcripts are very useful and I will not fully agree with them on this one since it will not give enough information.
