college course offerings in order people in the army to graduate with a bachelors degree over a period of time. People that retire as a master sergeant or sergeant major can do this.

to see colleges cut their course requirements in half so that students can graduate in two years instead of four.

He does not have a bad idea. It is not going to fully work for all majors and at best bet all you are going to is cut the amount of classes needed to get the degree, not the time spent.

If you take a major such as Math, Economics, or Broadcast Journalism for instance you can easily chunk down the core requirements to get a college degree down to under 64 credit hours. It may not be fully possible to chunk the degree time down to two years though.

I have seen full law degree requirements where you need to take over 150 credit hours. No way can you chunk that degree into a two year program. I have also seen some law degree requirements around 126 credit hours, that you might be able to squash into a 64 credit hour program, but not into a two-year program.

on a couple of local superintendents and what they would do to the NCLB bill. Nation set standards is one of them, which is what I fully want.

They also talk about national testing standards. Just give all student the NAEP exam, that works for me. The states can come up with what ever exam they want to and then you can compare the both.

The San Diego Union-Tribune has a long report up on this school and how the NCLB bill has effected the school. Most of the students in this school do not speak English fluently, 91% are Latino, and most of the students are from low-income families.
