A “Growth Report” May Replace….

the traditional A,B, and C grades on a report card in the Buffalo area. The proposal would wind up creating a 5 page “Growth Report” that would track a student progress in 54 areas. In each category you can get a 1-4 score with 4 being the highest.

The article showcases one photo of what a new report card would look like.

To me this report card is going to complicate teachers and parents.

along with a couple of other groups release final recommendations on what changes should be made on the NCLB bill.

Recommendation highlights:

Expand access to AP and IB programs.

English Language Learners need proper time to overcome language barriers. They also need alternate or modified assessments to properly reflect performance.

They want state to offer supplemental services before they offer school choice to a school that is not meeting AYP goals.

NAEP scores should not be used as the primary measure of state proficiency.
