on the new highschool in the Philidaelphia area that is a joint venture with the Microsoft Corporation.

area get to choose what high school they want to attend. They get to choose between 39 programs in 15 high schools. Programs include stuff such as finance, plumbing, cooking, auto repair.

is going to vote on substantial increase in scholarship programs for students that go into a teaching program and teach in the state of Maryland.

on how well states are doing to help the neediest students.  The average grade given to all the states is a D.  Three states failed and six states had too few students to get a grade.

They did say though that after looking at 15 years of data that 8 states made moderate progress and a total of 31 states made at least some progess. 13 states did not make any progress and the state of Nebraska actually saw a decline in 4th grade radeing scores.

The report does give out a state by state look at data.

says that school districts are are not giving parents enough information on the NCLB Bill.  Parents are also not given timely information as well.  They go on top say that poverty, limited English proficiency, and varying cultural expectations are barriers to parent involvement.
