that people on welfare have to now work between 20-30 hours a week instead of the old 10 hour standard in order to get welfare payments while going to college.

are complaining about not being able to bring home exams that the students take.
Imo teachers need to create a new test each year and then after everyone has taken the exam give the exam back to the students. Reusing the same exam over and over again can easily make a for a lazy teacher.

The Bridgespan Group Reports…..

on Low-Income high school students.  The report says that only 61% percent graduate from high school which is 10% lower the graduation rate for all students.  They also say that by the age of 26 only 21% of low income students have a college degee which is 14% below the rate for all students.

The report states that at least half of low-income students do not apply for financial aid and that this money has to be more widely accessible.

90% of students have expectations of going on to college says the report, but they say that a rigorous curriculum is going to be a must in every state to change student opportunities and get them more onto a path to college.

Dual Immersion Article….

The classrooms in this program include both native English and Spanish speakers.  As they go up in grade level more English language is used.  Some people are calling this idea backdoor bilingual education.

Interesting Idea.  It is is certainly another idea to get in a second language under the current education model.
