for you had a one hour show titled “China Prep” looking at five Chinese students at Bashu Middle School #2 getting ready for the National College Entrance Exam.
I have to say it was a good look at these five kids. I loved the wall the school had up of students from the school that went onto college.
The school in the show is a public school where you have to pay tuition. The tuition was 22 bucks a year which the show said was around one year worth of family salary. The school does not have any sports teams.
Students can get put into honors classes, but can easily be pulled out of them if they do not do well in them.
Students at the school were studying seven days a week. The school does have a four week vacation though.
The students are looking at getting into either Beida or Tsinghua University which are elite universities in the county.
One student though got into Tsinghua University through taking a math exam. Getting a top 40 score got the student a gold medal. He wound up scoring a silver medal.
