Findings in the report:
NAEP scores at the lowest level gained the most while at the top they hardly moved.
60% of teachers say that the worst academic students are the biggest priority while only 23% said the best academic students are the biggest priority.
73% of teachers at least somewhat agree that best academic students are bored and under-challenged in school.
77% of teaches at least somewhat agree that getting the underachievers to perform properly it has taken a back seat to the needs of the advance students.
30% of teachers can say that the NCLB has had a positive effect on worst academic students.
46% of teachers say that teacher preparation programs had very little focus on how to teach the academically advanced students.
74% of teachers at least somewhat agree that a homogeneous grouping of math students is a good thing.
preschool kids in California is out. This is one very long read.
In a super short summary this report says that under 50% of economically disadvantaged kids were in a preschool program that was any good compared to 70% for kids that were better off. Only 45% of mothers had children in preschool who did not finish high school.

A couple of highlights:
58% of ninth graders says that they think they can afford college while only 54% of eleventh graders said the same thing.
79% of ninth graders said they think they have what it takes to get into college while only 76% of eleventh graders said the same thing.
They looked at a bunch of data with some comparisons to the 2006-2007 data and it hardly changed at all.
a shortage of doctors that is worsening due to the rising cost of college tuition and the amount of debt they rack up.
The included graphic shows three Michigan college with massive jumps in tuition with Wayne State University as the biggest offender.
Not many Americans want a 30-40 grand job if they have to rack up over 100 grand in debt.
