The Mauricio Gastón Institute Is Out….

with two separate reports looking at Latinos students and schools in the Boston area with a high level of Latino students.

The first reports looks at Latino students in the Boston area. The report shows a massive spiking of Latino High School dropouts starting at the end of the ninth grade and they also show they have the worst graduation rate among all the races looked at.

When looking at MCAS scores the Latinos are among the worst, but the Latinos has better scores at schools that were meeting AYP goals. Latino students did better in smaller schools.

The second report looks at some schools in the Boston area that are success stories. One thing they found that all the schools they looked at had was a strong organization.

They found that over the past few years in the states that had enough usable data that test score performance has gone up and that the achievement gap between races is narrowing.
