spending their own money in order to buy supplies for the classroom even though they get a state stipend. The article says that Utah rules that elementary education must remain cost free.
I do not like that idea at all. Teachers should not have to spend money they make on school supplies.

college endowments in college in Virgina. The article says that University of Virgina tuition went up 8.3% while the endowment gained around 800 million bucks.
A quick look at the University of Virgina shows a undergrad population of around 15,000 and tuition of around 8500 bucks a year today for in state students and around 27 grand for out of state students. The tuition gain of 8.3% could have easily been eating up by the endowment gains.

The Union-Tribune reports on a bunch of college students trying to get 434,000 signatures in order to put this up for a vote by the people in California in November. If the act were to pass it would freeze college costs for students.
