Student Loan Debt Of College Students….

is looked at by the National Education Association.

Woodrow Price is a fifth grade teacher with 28,000 in debt who signed up for grad school to defer paying off his college debt.

Susan Knable has 51,000 in debt and is a special education teacher. She says she would have a home by now if it was not for the college loan debt.

Anthony Daniels owes 58,000 and is dumping his idea of becoming a teacher to go into law school.

Jenna Miller has 30 grand in debt. She says she has deep passion for teaching kids and that the parents are going to pay 13,000 of the debt.

Zoua Xiong and her husband have racked up 75,000 grand in debt so far.

They even have up responses to this report.

In that link Mary Pyron says she has 156,000 in debt.

High debt levels easily in the 50 grand plus range is very dangerous. All the money spent to pay off the college debt is money missing from retirement accounts.

recently released its newest look at salaries for teachers. They report that 3,565,829 people are teachers in K-12 schools in the USA. The Average teacher salary for the 2005-2006 year is $49,026.

The 2008 Quality Counts Report…

is out from the people at Education Week.

No states got an F rating, but some states did wind up with a D+ rating.

In one report they look at the teacher salary and compare it to 16 other jobs. Teachers peak in salary at a much lower rate and fewer teachers make higher salaries.

The AP Reports That Some Missouri….

teachers say pay is low. That article looks at Joel Chaky who makes on 23,000 a year as a teacher who also works as a cook.

Missouri State Teachers Association would like to see a minimum salary of 31,000 bucks.

This salary is WAY too low for teachers that have to meet “Highly Qualified Teacher” rules in the No Child Left Behind Bill.
