has approved a new plan that is going to cap tuition increases at 5% or 150 bucks per semester, which ever one is highest.
The article says that at UT-Austin that tuition and fees would not rise more than 190 bucks next semester, but that would also mean a possible loss of 6 million bucks.
The Dallas Morning News also reports on this as well.

local McDonald’s in the area have agreed to reward students for good grades. Only students up through fifth grade can get this reward. Pizza Hut used to be sponsor for this reward.
I think for kids this young you should not be giving out rewards like this for good grades. I know I have posted on middle school kids in NYC receiving money for good standardized test scores and high school students in some cities winning a new car.
I also do not like the way they go about giving out this reward. Stuff like this should never go on a report card imo.

The school district plans to be the first one in the nation to wind up with a partnership with a college. If the idea gets passed Arizona State University would develop and implement innovative teaching methods into the school district.
I like this idea even if the students involved are going to wind up like guinea pigs. It may lead to new ways to instruct kids that work.
