are not going to have any chance of going onto the Scripps Howard national spelling bee in 2008 because the Star Tribune Newspaper has dumped funding for it. The newspaper is balking at the 99 fee opposed to each school has to pay to be apart of the contest.
This is total travesty!! I hope someone can come up with the small amount of funding necessary to send kids to this competition.
Haverford College is going to be next on the list to dump loans for college students. The college is going to spend and extra 2.6 million to fund this proposal. The article says they have an endowment around 540 million which is far lower than the 6.6 billion for the University Of Pennsylvania.
