Modern Language Association Of America Report…

is out on foreign language classes taken in college.

The report shows that over the past few year more and more students in college are taking a foreign language. In 2006 1,522,770 students took a foreign language class. Spanish is still taken the most while in the past couple of years the Japanese and Chinese language has seen good growth. Arabic language though has seen massive growth.

Some data highlights from the schools surveyed:

63% go part time, 57% work more than 20 hours a week, and 33% spend more than 11 hours a week caring for dependents.

36% rarely or never used an advisor, 46% rarely or never use Job placement, 37% rarely or never use skill labs, 24, rarely or never use computer lab.

28% of students never met with an advisor by the end of the fourth week.

Is looking at an idea that would increase they pay for the chancellors of the schools 33% more in salary over the next four years. This would bring salary up to over 300 grand for some of the chancellors.
