Miami-Dade County Public Schools….

Want to give a sixth grader a free laptop. In order to get the laptop students will have to sharpen their internet skills and the parents will have to computer software and Internet safety through the district’s Parent Academy.

3rd graders can get tickets to museums if they are polite and friendly, come to school prepared and dress appropriately.

11th graders can get an unpaid internship if they concentrate on budgeting, career planning and civic participation. I would love to see the internship tied to the major a students selects as part of high school graduation requirements.

State Colleges In Florida Are Getting….

choosier says the Miami Herald on picking high school grads from Florida. The article states that some colleges are rejecting at least half of the people that send in applications and that colleges are freezing increases in the freshman class while around 4,300 more students graduate high school.

looking at making sure that the MEAP exam for one grade level is given out all on the same day. The rules as of today state they have a certain time frame to give out the test.
