is going to be starting all-day kindergarten classes when classes start on August 27th. Teachers like the idea of having more time to teach the basics.

The Baltimore Sun reports on this school that is one of 14 county schools that did not meet AYP goals. The article says the school missed the goal by fewer than three students and that over the past three years the percentage of sixth-graders who passed the state math test jumped from 34 to 66.

Shocking stats from this report:

80% of high school students and 44% of middle school students have personally witnessed illegal drugs sold, used, or kept in lockers at the school they went to.

They data they show has big percentage gain increases in both private and public schools where students have seen illegal drugs sold, used, or kept in lockers.

The Sacramento Bee reports on a bunch of high school students in a six-week advanced biology and natural science program where they did some research in some professional laboratories. hey also wound up doing a research paper on what they did as well.
