The reports looks at two states, Kansas and Texas, and what they are doing to give military families better access to a pre-k education. Kansas created a whole new program started only in a few counties just for military families. In Texas a small group of organizations got together to get the state to pass a law in 2006 allowing military families eligible for the state pre-k program.
The Pioneer Press reports on a summer program for students where they are introduced into welding, programmable electronics, graphic design and car repair. Students who complete this program can receive a 600 buck stipend and in they maintain a C average in high school they can receive a scholarship to the school.
