Teachers Network Survey Is Out….

lots of questions were asked on the NCLB Bill.

Highlights include:

62% strongly agree that NCLB with AYP goals encourage teachers to “teach to the test.”

69% strongly agree that NCLB with AYP goals causes teacher burnout.

48% strongly disagree that NCLB with AYP goals helps students get a quality education.

50% strongly disagree that NCLB with AYP goals is closing the achievement gap.

63% strongly disagree that NCLB with AYP is an effective way to assess schools.

Wallace Foundation Report On Principal…

mentoring is out. For this report they only looked at a couple of places.

The good thing they found is that mentoring for principals in on the rise big time sine 2000.

The bad news is most of the mentoring programs fall short of expectations.

They recommend that schools and districts that require mentoring gather data on how efficient it is, they would like to see mentoring last for two or more years if possible, and they want quality training.

have up an article on how long a teacher works per day.

In the article they link to this Honolulu Adviser article that states that a teacher works 15.5 hour work days!?!?!?!!? The people behind this study should be fired. I can see ten hour days, not 15.5 hour days.
