The article states that El Paso County is one of the poorest counties in the state where over a 25% of the 720,000 people in the county live in poverty and around 66% of adults have graduated from high-school.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports on people over the age of 55 that use this Corps program to go to school and help tutor students. The article states the Cleveland area has around 200 tutors and that 70% students who go through the tutoring improve attendance along with 80% of students in the program getting homework done on time more often.
plan to meet with local educators in Cobb County to get private day care centers to serve hundreds of pre kindergarten students. The article states that classroom size rules have squeezed out classroom space for pre kindergarten students in the Cobb County area.
