on vocational education making a comeback in the city.  They also have a video up on one school that they visited.  It mainly looks at some of the classes at the school and what they are doing.

The Virginia PTA Wants A….

school nurse in every single school.  The article states that some schools only have health aids in the school and that the secretary is the one that gives out medication to students on a daily basis.

The Virginia Association of School Nurses would like to see one nurse for every 750 kids in a school, but the state average is 1,457 students per nurse.

Twenty High School Students….

will get the chance to take free college classes along side regular college students at Syracuse University.  The local school district has partnered up with the college to this students a taste of college life and some colege credits as well.  They will be taking 3 credit hour classes that cost 520 bucks per credit hour if you paid for them in cash.

Bunche Elementary Article….

The LA Times looks at this school that has made some strides without help from state intervention programs.  The school has an 868 score on the state’s Academic Performance Index which is great.

Most of the teachers that were at the school after the new superintendent Mikara Solomon Davis are gone.  Some of the new teachers in the school come for the Teach For America program.
