State Education Officials In Ohio….

wants to become the first state in the nation that will compare students to other coutries from around the world.  Part of this idea is being funded by the Bill and Melinda Gate foundation.

Ohio gets it right this time imo. It would be nice for students if they could take a global exam to see how they compare to other students from a foreign country.  Three exams do exist.

the Maryland School Board that to get more sucess out of blacks that you are going to have to move towards single-sex classrooms, more qualified teachers in low-performing schools,  and pairing up ex-convicts with young men. The article says that the ex-offenders would have to be carefully screened.

Students From The Doris M. Johnson High School…

switched places with students Century High School.  Students doing this are creating a documentary of what they see.

I would like to see more of this done in the school system.

Experience Corps Article….

The program places senior citizens in elementary schools as mentors.  Schools that have prarticpated in this program have less students going to the office says the article.

Westwood High School Article….

The Boston Globe reports on this school that had some budget problems and hat to cut some AP classes.  They then wound up notifying colleges it is not their fault the students did not take a hard enough of a course schedule.

IMO the school did the right thing.

Parents In The Fayette County Area….
