Brookings Institue say that Americans are overconfident on their math skills and it is hurting them.

The report in in three pieces. Part one looks at NAEP scores for math, science, and reading over the past 16 years.  Nothing ultra special in this section.

The second part looks at an international math test to see how countries compare to each other.  The posted the results and one interesting question if students agree alot if they usually do well in mathemathics.  Most of the countries with a high percentage of students that agree with the question do worse in the results.

The report continues on to compare the US to Singapore and the report says that the least confident students in singapore do better than the most confident student in the USA.

The third section is on weather states honestly report test scores. Not much new in this section but they do say that they suggest that the NAEP exam does reflect the international standards in mathemathics.
